Metropolitan Transportation Authority (New York)

The MTA (Metropolitan Transportation Authority ) is a public transport company of the U.S. State of New York.

The public transport network comprises a service area of 13,000 square kilometers with a population of 14.6 million people. The service area includes the city of New York, Long Iceland, the South - East of the State of New York and Connecticut. The MTA Metro ( New York City Subway ), buses and trains carry an average of around 7.8 million people every weekday. This corresponds to an annual passenger volume of around 2.4 billion people.

The MTA maintains one of the largest metro networks in the world. Most subway lines run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. The MTA has the world's largest subway car fleet. Many MTA bus lines also operate around the clock and move with it, just like the subway, the people in the five boroughs ( districts ) of the city. On average, around 7.8 million passengers use the vehicles of the MTA. A total of 341 drive rail, subway and bus lines. The MTA has about 8,590 railway and subway cars.
