Metrosassari

The light rail runs in the Sardinian town of Sassari Sassari suburb of Santa Maria di Pisa on the Sassari train station to the city center on Emiciclo Garibaldi (4.3 km).

The line is operated by the company Azienda Trasporti Regional Sarda and was opened to its first section between the station and the city center on 27 October 2006.

Car

In operation on this network are AnsaldoBreda Sirio articulated cars of the LRV series with 200 standing, 51 seated and two wheelchair positions. The length of the car is 27 meters.

The trains run on weekdays every 15 to 27 minutes on a separate sheet body.

Line path

Plans

Line 2 is currently under construction, begins in the suburb town of Sassari, an important tourist resort in the area, and the terminus of line 1 in Sassari will connect the towns of Li Punti and Baldinca. On September 11, 2009, a first portion of the line was opened, connecting the existing terminus of line 1 ( Bahnhofsvorplatz Sassari) with Santa Maria di Pisa.

The city path which is operated by Azienda Trasporti Regional Sarda, continues today only in the city of Sassari, although plans to expand the network consist. These regulations provide for the coming years to link the suburban cities Sassari and Alghero Sassari. On these lines, tram-train cars, will operate.

Planned extensions

Planned enhancements to the rail network to Alghero and Sassari to turn to a light rail tram -train today's railway Sassari -Alghero. Together with the expansion of the present railway line into a rail, a ring road between the airport Fertilia and the city of Sassari is planned.
