MGM Grand Las Vegas
The MGM Grand is a hotel complex in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. It belongs to the MGM Resorts International group.
The hotel complex
The MGM Grand is named after the Venetian Resort ( when considered together with the The Palazzo as a hotel ) in Las Vegas and the First World Hotel in Genting, Malaysia, the number of its rooms after the third largest hotel in the world. The MGM Grand has 5,044 rooms, including 751 suites. On the upper two floors, there are 51 two-storey lofts ( Skylofts ), which belongs itself to the Leading Hotels of the World, and The Mansion are 29 private villas. The low road side of the hotel, which existed as a hotel Marina before the establishment of the MGM Grand, in 2005 was re-equipped with designer rooms and marketed as West Wing.
Back to MGM Grand Hotel MGM Grand Garden Arena is one with 15,200 seats ( Grand Garden ), which is known as a venue for boxing matches. More Theatre of smaller size are also available (including the Kà the show of Cirque du Soleil (KA Theatre ) ) and the Hollywood Theatre with 720 seats, where David Copperfield occurs regularly. History and Profile
The hotel was opened on 18 December 1993 its construction cost 2.4 billion U.S. dollars. It bears the name of the older hotels in Las Vegas, which burned in 1980 (87 deaths). This building still stands and has since operated as Bally 's Las Vegas. The MGM was named after the great Hollywood studio Metro-Goldwyn- Mayer, whose hallmark is the roaring lion; this choice of name came from the fact that the film company and the Casinobereiber with Kirk Kerkorian had a common majority shareholder.
At the opening of the MGM Grand therefore had a " movie theme ", including the landscape of The Wizard of Oz at the entrance. The entrance was a prismatic cracked yellow painted lion made of concrete, under the head of which was the casino entrance. At a later reconstruction, he was replaced by a more noble bronze lions (which also no longer gave the impression that one would go through his mouth into the casino ). It is surrounded by bronze statues of men in the Art Deco style, wear shells on their shoulders. Behind it is now an LED wall that constantly changes color. The interior is now Art Deco. The MGM Grand Hotel was one of the venues of the film Ocean's Eleven. A boxing match at the MGM Grand was held in the plot of the film. In the Grand Garden of the boxing match with the highest ever exchange between Oscar de la Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr. took place on 5 May 2007.
