The MIC SkiPark Kežmarok is an ice hockey club from Kežmarok, Slovakia, who played between 2007 and 2009 in the top division of Slovakia, the Slovnaft Extraliga and otherwise belonged to the first league.

History

The club was founded in 1931 in Kežmarok. In the 1970s and 1980s, the club played in the third-rate second SNHL before the crew of the HK 31 Kežmarok 1991 mastered the rise in the first SNHL. For several years, the association was able to hold in the second division of Slovakia, but finished second in the season 1998/99 only to eleventh place. Therefore, the club was relegated to the third division again. In subsequent seasons, the club held in the middle of this game class before 2006, the promotion to the 1st League in the context of an increase in this league could be realized.

In the following season the MHK Kežmarok reached the second place in the regular season. In the playoffs, the club then put each by 4-0 against the SHK 37 Piestany and the HC 05 Banská Bystrica. In the final, the team hit the ice hockey team of HK Ves ​​, which was defeated 4-2. To be allowed but ascend in the Extraliga, had the MHK Kežmarok his final opponent, the license for the highest junior league buy, as this is a condition for participation in the Extraliga. In the following two seasons the team was a member of the Extraliga, but was placed in both years at end of table. 2009 was followed by the re- descent into the first league, as the team lost the relegation series against the HK Ves ​​. As of 2009, the MIC Kežmarok acted as a farm team of HK Poprad, so that the best players left the club and changed to Poprad. In return, the club from Poprad borrowed some youth players from the MIC.

In the spring of 2010, the ice rink was flooded in Kežmarok of a flood, destroying. Since then, rests the game operation of the association.

Home ground

The MIC Kežmarok wore its home games at the Zimný Štadión Kezmarok, which was built in 1994 and offers a total of 3,000 spectators. The stadium was sold out only once, as in the season 2007/08 HC Slovan Bratislava was a guest. In the spring of 2010, the ice rink was destroyed in Kežmarok by floods.
