MHTML

MIME Encapsulation of Aggregate HTML Documents ( MHTML) means " MIME integration of composite HTML documents ".

MHTML is led by the IETF as RFC 2557.

With this standard, the problem is to be solved, that when you save an HTML page graphics, and other features shown it must be stored separately, which ultimately also requires changes to the original file.

In MHTML web pages including graphics and other embedded elements are brought into a compact form, which is stored as a file in a MIME-capable format. Some content, such as scripts that do not come from the same domain as the web page will not be saved. MHTML files are often mht saved with the extension..

The format is arranged as a MIME email. MHTML is used for example in HTML e- mails to embed images in the email.

The format is currently supported by the browsers Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Opera and the WebKit engine, the feature is now also implemented. For the Mozilla Firefox add- on called UnMHT is available that embeds images also in contrast to the Mozilla Archive Format correctly. Some mobile phones websites of the built-in browser are stored in this format.

To archive web pages in a most faithful form, MHTML is a suitable means. Contents of an entire Web sites can not be archived efficiently so, for such occasions lends itself to wget.

Another way to embed elements in an HTML file, the Data URL.
