Miami Fusion

The Miami Fusion FC was an American football franchise from Fort Lauderdale ( Florida). The team played between 1998 and 2001 in the Major League Soccer ( MLS).

History

The franchise was recorded together with the Chicago Fire SC in the MLS in 1998. In the first two seasons they reached the playoffs, but different in each case in the quarterfinals against DC United from. You missed the playoffs in 2000, but reached the final of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. A year later, the merger was the point best team in the regular season and won the MLS Supporters' Shield. In the semifinals, they failed because of the San Jose Earthquakes. For financial reasons, then withdrew from the league.

Stadium

The home games were played at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The 20,450 capacity stadium was already 1977 to 1983 home of the Fort Lauderdale Strikers in the North American Soccer League. Then played from 1988 to 1994 another team named Fort Lauderdale Strikers in the stadium. The team played in the former American Professional Soccer League.
