Michael Ashcroft

Michael Anthony Ashcroft, Baron Ashcroft, KCMG ( born March 4, 1946) is a British businessman and politician of the Conservative Party.

Career

Ashcroft, who is also a citizen of Belize, was raised to the life peer as Baron Ashcroft, of Chichester, on 20 October 2000 in the county of West Sussex. This year it also the Order of St Michael and St George was awarded.

From 1998 to 2001 he was a senior Tory party treasurer. Since 2005 he has been Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party. Since 2007 he has been treasurer of the International Democratic Union.

Privately, Ashcroft is operated as a collector of Victoria Cross and George Cross. He owns the largest private collection around the world, which is on loan to the named after him, Ashcroft Gallery at the Imperial War Museum in London.
