Michael B. Donley

Michael Bruce Donley ( born October 4, 1952 in Novato, California) is an American politician and was in the year 1993 and in the years 2008 to 2013 United States Secretary of the Air Force.

Biography

After schooling he performed from 1972 to 1975 his military service in the U.S. Army and then studied International Relations at the University of Southern California. He earned there first in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA International Relations ) and in 1978 a Master of Arts (MA International Relations ).

In 1979 he became assistant to Roger Jepsen, the former Republican U.S. Senator for Iowa. He then belonged from 1981 to 1984 on the staff of the Defence Committee of the Senate (United States Senate Committee on Armed Services). After a subsequent work as director of defense programs at the National Security (National Security Council ( NSC) ), he was from 1988 to 1989 Deputy Executive Secretary of the NSC.

In 1989, he joined the Ministry of Defense of the United States and became assistant to the Secretary of the Air Force; as such, he was responsible for the financial management of the U.S. Air Force. After the end of the term of U.S. President George Bush and the resignation of Donald Rice, he was the first time from January 20 to July 13, 1993 Acting Air Force Secretary ( Acting U.S. Secretary of the Air Force) during the first term months of President Bill Clinton.

After his subsequent resignation from the government service, he was initially 1993-1996 Senior Fellow of the Institute for Defense Analyses. Subsequently, he was between 1996 and 2005 Senior Vice President of Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC ), a defense company with total assets of 8.94 billion U.S. dollars and is based in San Diego.

In 2005 he returned to the U.S. Department of Defense, where he was Director of Administration and Management. On June 21, 2008 Michael B. Donley again acting Air Force Secretary and held this office until 21 June 2013.
