Michael Batiste

Michael Batiste ( born November 21, 1977 in Long Beach ) is an American professional basketball player.

Career

Batiste began playing basketball at Wilson High School in Long Beach, California. In 1995 he moved to the College of Long Beach before finally a year later to Arizona State University where he was moved to 1999 under contract. He was elected at the CBA Drafts of the Grand Rapids Hoops to 33 out of 1999. The ABA Drafts in the following year he was elected to the Anaheim Roadrunners 79th place.

Since Batistes dream of a contract to an NBA team but moved into the distance, he moved to Europe in 2000 for the first time. In Belgium Batiste signed with Spirou Charleroi BC one-year contract and managed his team to the national cup final. In 2001, Batiste to Pallacanestro Biella in Italy. Due to the fact that he always was among the top performers in his teams and thus the American players observers were aware of him, the Memphis Grizzlies finally offered him a professional contract for the NBA. Batiste accepted the offer and thus moved in 2002 to the U.S. and finished the season at Memphis with 6.4 points and 3.4 rebounds on average. His best performance he scoring with 18 points in a personal game against the San Antonio Spurs.

In the summer of 2003, he Panathinaikos from Greece submitted a contract offer and Batiste moved back to Europe. With Panathinaikos Batiste won eight Greek championships, seven cups and managed with his team three times the ULEB Euro League win.

Michael Batiste is 2,04 m tall and originally played on the position of small forward. With Panathinaikos he is, however, used for this position, despite its rather small size, as a center. Batiste applies to his position as one of today's best players playing in Europe and is characterized by its great dynamics.

On July 13, 2012 Fenerbahçe Ülker announced his engagement for one year.
