Michael Baur

Michael Baur ( born April 16, 1969 in Innsbruck ) is a retired Austrian football player at the position of central defender.

Career

Michael Baur was Young Player of the sports club Innsbruck when he was discovered at the age of 19 years by Ernst Happel. For the center-back his active professional career began at FC Swarovski Tirol, where he signed a contract in 1989. The Innsbruck was already in his first year as a professional Austrian champion. His debut in the Austrian national football team was Michael Baur on 30 May 1990 in a 3-2 victory over the Netherlands, when he came to the lawn for half-time for the Obersteirer Kurt Russ. He was also recorded in Italy but also in the squad of the Football World Cup 1990, arrived there, however, to no use.

After seven years with Innsbruck in the Austrian first league, he moved for a short trip to the Far East to the Urawa Red Diamonds in the first Japanese league. After just one season Michael Baur returned to Austria for FC Tirol Innsbruck and won there from 2000 to 2002 the Austrian Cup hat-trick, before the club went bankrupt. During this time, Michael Baur came after six -year break, again to international duty. After the bankruptcy of its common association in the Bundesliga defender followed his coach Kurt Jara to Germany for Hamburger SV. Initially equipped with an appealing use of time, he slipped to the second team of the hamburger. After a disappointing year in the German northern lights, he came back to Austria Traun and as these sold their license to the SK Austria Kärnten, 2007, he moved to LASK Linz, there ended his active career Baur.

From October 2010 to March 2011 Baur was previously next to Helmut Kraft (until November 2010) and next to George Zellhofer (from November 2010 to March 2011 ) as an assistant coach, engaged in his last club, the LASK Linz.
