Michael Bingham

Michael Allen Oswald Bingham ( born April 13, 1986 in Sylva, North Carolina ) is a British athlete who with the 4 x 400 - meter relay team won the silver medal at the 2009 World Championships.

Bingham was born in the United States and in 2005 U.S. Junior champion in the decathlon, but then switched to the sprint distances. The student of Wake Forest University in 2007 reached at the University Championships of the National Collegiate Athletic Association the semi-finals in the 400 -meter run. As Bingham's father is a British citizen and Michael Bingham therefore also has British citizenship, the British Association nominated him for the Olympic team. At the Olympic Games in 2008, Andrew Steele, Robert Tobin, Michael Bingham and Martyn Rooney ran in the season finale 2:58,81 minutes and finished fourth.

A year later, Bingham was launched at the 2009 World Championships in the individual competition. In the semifinals, he improved his personal best to 44.74 seconds; in the final, he finished seventh in 45.56 seconds. The British squadron with Conrad Williams, Michael Bingham, Robert Tobin and Martyn Rooney took second place behind the U.S. runners in 3:00,53 minutes won the silver season before the Australian season.

In March 2013 he won the gold medal in the 4 x 400 -meter relay at the European Athletics Indoor Championships 2013 in Gothenburg, Sweden.

At a height of 1.83 meters his competition weight is 75 kilograms.
