Michael Blumlein

Life

Michael Blumlein studied at the University of California, San Francisco Medicine and has since worked as a doctor, including the internal department of the local university hospital and at San Quentin State Prison and Connecticut. During his time at the University Hospital in San Francisco, he taught there as well.

Letter

His first short story, tissue ablation and Variant Regeneration: A Case Report, was published in Interzone in the British science fiction magazine in 1984. His first novel, The Movement of Mountains, published in 1987 at the New York publisher St. Martin's Press. His second novel, X, Y, was released in 1993 and was filmed in 2004. To the British Short Film Deco Dings (1988 ), which won the Jury Prize at the San Francisco International Film Festival, he wrote the screenplay. A collection of short stories entitled The Brains of Rats appeared in 1989. She was also nominated for the Bram Stoker Award for both the World Fantasy Award.
