Michael Borgstede

Michael Borgstede (* December 27 1976 in Thuine ) is a German harpsichordist and journalist. He lives in Tel Aviv.

Musician

Even in his school days was Borgstede first piano and organ lessons. His training as a harpsichordist he began with Esther Morales - Cañadas, which he then continued as studied with Jacques Ogg in The Hague. He won the competition York Early Music Competition and the Ben Weber Award. As a soloist and member of the ensemble Musica ad Rhenum he performed in the Concertgebouw, the Wigmore Hall and the Vienna Konzerthaus, the USA, South America and Asia. In 2006, he played all the harpsichord works of François Couperin one on CD. His interpretations are well-founded as performance practice, yet unconventional.

Journalist

A one-year stay in the U.S. Borgstedes furthered his tendency to journalism. Since 2003 he has worked as a Middle East correspondent for Israel and the Palestinian territories.
