Michael Bresagk

Michael Bresagk ( born February 24, 1970 in Cottbus ) is a former German professional ice hockey player who played in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga, among others, for the EV Landshut and the Frankfurt Lions during its active period from 1988 to 2010. After the Lions went into bankruptcy in 2010 supported Bresagk the amateur team of the Young Lions Frankfurt in the professionalization, is a partner since inception and was until 2012 Athletic Director of the Frankfurt Lions.

Career

Michael Bresagk began his career as a hockey player in 1988 in the GDR Oberliga at Dynamo white water. With his team, he came East German champion in the seasons 1988/89 and 1989/90. After reunification, and the name change to PEV white water played the defender with the team in the 1st Bundesliga. In the seasons 1990/91 and 1991/92 Bresagk had each in the play- downs with the club. In 1992, the links contactors within the hockey Bundesliga EV Landshut, for which he spent five years running and with which he played from the 1994/95 season in the newly formed German Ice Hockey League. In 1995, the defensive player with the EVL the play-off final, where he lost to the Cologne Sharks with his team.

After Bresagk 1996/97 shortly took in the Ligue Magnus, the highest French league, for Brest Albatros Hockey, he returned to the 1997/98 season back in the DEL and signed a contract with the Frankfurt Lions. With the frankfurters as he had with white water and Landshut in the 2002/03 season in the play- downs, where they were inferior to the Schwenningen Wild Wings in six games. However, due to the insolvency of the Black Forest, the Lions remained in the DEL. The following year, with the team Bresagk celebrated the biggest success of his career when he surprisingly the final of the play-offs against the Polar Bears Berlin and thus won the German championship with the team. From 1997 to 2010, the defender completed for the Hessians over 600 DEL games, with a total of 780 missions in the highest German professional league he is behind Mirko Lüdemann and Andreas Renz of the Cologne Sharks of the three record players in the DEL history. He also participated in the years 1998, 2006 and 2007 at the DEL All-Star Game.

Internationally

For the German national Bresagk participated in the World Championships in 1994, 1995 and 1998. Overall, he played 73 international matches.
