Michael E. Ryan
Michael E. Ryan ( born December 24, 1941 in San Antonio, Texas ) is a retired general of the U.S. Air Force, the Chief of Staff of the Air Force was the last.
Life
Ryan, whose father John D. Ryan and Chief of Staff of the Air Force was also general who resigned after the visit of the U.S. Air Force Academy, from which he graduated in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science (BS ) in the Air Force.
During his military career, he rose to become General and in 1991 vice- director of strategic planning and policy strategy at the Joint Chiefs of Staff, before he was assistant to General John Shalikashvili between 1993 and 1994, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Subsequently, he was only commander of the Sixteenth Air Force Aviano Air Base on the and then from 1996 to 1997 commander of U.S. Air Forces in Europe (USAFE ).
On 6 November 1997 he was appointed Chief of Staff of the Air Force and thus the highest ranking officer in the U.S. Air Force. As such, he retired on September 6, 2001.
Guest appearance in Stargate
In the science fiction series Stargate - Kommando SG -1 ( Season 4, Episode 19: "The Miracle " ) had General Ryan 2001 cameo where he played himself in the role as Chief of Staff of the Air Force.
