Michael Eysenck

Michael William Eysenck ( born February 8, 1944) is a British psychologist. He is a professor at Royal Holloway, University of London.

His research mainly deal with the cognitive factors of anxiety. In the late 1990s he developed the theory of hedonic tone (see hedonistic treadmill ), in which he postulated that humans are genetically conscious of always maintain an optimum level of pleasant excitement.

He is the son of German - British psychologist Hans Jürgen Eysenck and his wife Sybil Eysenck and thus a grandson of Jewish violinist Max Rostal.
