Michael F. Jacobson

Michael F. Jacobson ( born 1943 ) is an American nutritionist and health activist. In 1971 he was co-founder of the Center for Science in the Public Interest in Washington DC, which is committed to a healthy diet and consumer protection.

For many years he fought in a leading position for a consistent, readable and really informative food labeling or clear warnings and coined the now widely familiar terms " junk food" and " empty calories ". He also wrote a large number of nutritional science books.
