Michael Fietz

Michael Fietz ( born November 13, 1967 in Bochum ) is a former German long-distance runner, who had his greatest success in the marathon.

In 1996, he ran the Berlin Marathon 2:18:43 h and arrived at the same time discharged German championship in seventh place. The following year was to be his most successful: he became German Vice Champion in the 5000 -meter run and the half marathon, finished at the World Half Marathon Championships in Kosice twelfth place in his personal best of 1:01:18 hours and put in the Frankfurt Marathon with 2:10:59 h a course record. The following year, he came at the European Athletics Championships in Budapest in 1998 to 19th place and finished fourth at the Frankfurt Marathon.

In 2000 he was undercutting twelfth of the Rotterdam Marathon with 2:11:28 hours, the Olympic standard. At the Olympic Games in Sydney, he finished in 37th place.

In 2001 he was eighth overall as the Frankfurt Marathon German Marathon Champion in 2:16:23 h 2002 he failed in an attempt which European Championship standard to crack, and was later in the year at the Tenth Cologne Marathon. In 2003 he took the overall winner of the Rhine- Ruhr- Marathon for the second time the national title, the regular time of 2:23:17 was caused h in part by the extreme heat. At the Frankfurt Marathon 2004, he attempted a comeback, but fell by 30 km on.

The 1.81 meter tall and 65 kg athlete competed for the TV Wattenscheid 01 and the LG ratio Münster.
