Michael Franks (athlete)
Michael Franks ( born September 23, 1963) is a retired American sprinter.
In his special discipline, the 400 - meter race, he won at the World Athletics Championships 1983 in Helsinki silver.
In 1985, he won the IAAF World Cup.
In 1987 he won the bronze medal at the World Indoor Championships in Indianapolis and gold at the Universiade.
Michael Franks began in his college days for Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
