Michael Franti

Michael Franti (* April 21, 1966 in Oakland, California) is an African-American poet and musician. Franti is the creator and driving force behind the music band Michael Franti & Spearhead, which combines hip-hop with a variety of music styles such as reggae, funk, folk and rock. Often Franti uses a mixture of poetry and short sound deposits. The lyrics mostly dealt with politically -American issues such as poverty, justice, nutrition, world peace, etc.
