Michael Gier

Michael Gier ( born July 19, 1967 in Goldach SG ) is a former Swiss rower who was in the 1990s, Olympic champion and world champion along with his brother Mark.

1992 Michael won greed with his brother bronze in the double sculls. 1993 received two silver behind the Australians Gary Lynagh and Bruce Hick. After Bronze 1994 1995 succeeded the yaw brothers in Tampere winning the World Championship title. The greatest success of Markus and Michael greed erruderten at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. They won at the Olympic debut of Leichtgewichtsruderns with three seconds ahead of the boat from the Netherlands and to the Australians. In 1998 they won the bronze again at the World Championships. At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000, the brothers reached the fifth place.

Michael greed started for the Seeclub Rorschach. He is a mechanic by profession.
