Michael Herr

Michael Herr ( born April 13, 1940 in Syracuse, New York) is an American author and screenwriter. The former Kriegsberichtserstatter is as the author of Dispatches (German: betrayed to hell), a memoir about his time as a correspondent for Esquire magazine ( 1967-1969 ) during the Vietnam War, known. The book was described by The New York Times Book Review as the best written about the Vietnam War. In addition, Mr. is considered one of the pioneers of the literary genres of non-fiction novel (along with Truman Capote, Norman Mailer and Tom Wolfe).
