Michael Herrmann

Michael Herrmann ( born February 4, 1944 in Wiesbaden ) is a German cultural and musical manager. He is co-founder of the Rheingau Music Festival, and has held the post of director and CEO since its founding. Since July 2008 he has also been Managing Director of Pro Arte concert management in Frankfurt am Main.

Life

Beginning of the 1970s sang Michael Herrmann in choral concerts in Kloster Eberbach, where the idea was born to organize a music festival in the walls of the former Cistercian monastery.

After a bookseller in Wiesbaden Herrmann moved to the hotel and tourism industry. In 1982, he returned after ten years back in the Canary Islands to Germany and worked in concert directorates. In 1985 he founded the Concert and Artist Agency Michael Herrmann. In 1987 he was founding the Rheingau Music Festival, where he holds the position of Artistic Director and CEO.

After a trial run in the summer of 1987 with two concerts at Kloster Eberbach Herrmann founded with some friends and music lovers on 23 November 1987 eV Rheingau Music Festival, the Rheingau Music Festival held until 1992. Since then, the legal form of the Rheingau Musik Festival is a limited company. Michael Herrmann in 2002 was awarded the Goethe Medal of the State of Hesse and since 2005 Vice- President of the Association Européenne des Festivals.

As a member of the ' citizen action PRO airport eV ' in Frankfurt am Main, he has been supporting the expansion of Frankfurt Airport.
