Michael Hilgers

Michael Hilgers ( born August 6, 1966 in Mönchengladbach ) is a former German national hockey player and Olympic champion.

Career

Hilgers won the silver medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. Four years later he won at the 1992 Summer Olympics gold medal with the German national hockey team. He scored in the 2-1 final win over Australia both goals for the German team.

Hilgers played during his career as a striker and was at Gladbach HTC in the field hockey league active. He is currently the Managing Director of the Warsteiner Hockey Park in Monchengladbach, in which the field hockey World Championship for Men was held in 2006.

In addition, he was coach of the men's team of Gladbach HTC.
