Michael Holmqvist

Rolf Anders Michael Holmqvist Pedersen ( born June 8, 1979 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player who is under contract with Linköpings HC in the Swedish Elitserien since 2010. His younger brother Andreas Holmqvist is also a professional hockey player.

Career

Michael Holmqvist began his career as a hockey player in the 1996/97 season in his hometown Stockholm in Djurgårdens IF, where he ran aground in nine games and stayed dot and impunity. During the NHL Entry Draft in 1997, he was selected in the first round to 18th position of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. Holmqvist ran into the following two seasons for the Färjestad BK. In 56 games he scored only five points, which is why his contract was not renewed and he moved in connection to Finland. The attacker signed with TPS Turku of the SM - liiga. He played four years for the Finns, in which he was able to increase almost continuously. While Michael Holmqvist get into the 1999/2000 season in 54 games 15 points scorer, he scored in the 2002 /03 in 56 games a total of 40 points.

In the following season, the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim took him under contract. He completed 21 NHL games for the Ducks, in which he scored two goals. That same season, however Holmqvist was into what was then the Ducks farm team, the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks deported. There he showed constant performance again and also contributed to the success of the team. On 30 July 2005, the Ducks Holmqvist transferred in exchange for Travis Moen to the Chicago Blackhawks. In Chicago he was during his two year tenure to the root cadres of the Blackhawks, where he played a total of 135 games and 33 points scorer collected.

For the season 2007/ 08 he returned to Sweden and signed with Frölunda HC. He played 53 games and reached 17 points before he was to Djurgårdens IF, which he had heard from 1996 to 1997, transferred to 2008/ 09. Even with Djurgården was Michael Holmqvist to the root cadres of the team. In April 2010, he signed a contract at Linköpings HC.
