Michael Kehlmann
Michael Kehl Mann ( born September 21, 1927 in Vienna, † December 1, 2005 ) was an Austrian actor and director. His son is the author Daniel Quinn.
Life
Michael Kehl man was the son of Viennese officials and writer Edward Kehl man. Both his father and his mother were baptized Jews. By falsifying documents - Original documents were destroyed in a fire archive, creating new documents had to be issued - Michael Kehl 's parents declared as " half-Jews " in order to survive the Nazi era better. Nevertheless Kehl man who was also baptized the visit of a high school was, after the annexation of Austria as a " half-Jew " denied. Instead, he graduated necessarily a lesson in an industrial company.
He frequented circles of the Austrian Resistance and was arrested in 1944 during an evening meeting and in a sub-camp of Mauthausen concentration camps, the camp of Maria Lanzendorf brought, which he was able to leave just before the end of the war through bribes. He graduated in 1945 Matura and then studied at the University of Vienna, German literature and philosophy. In 1950 he started together with Helmut Qualtinger and Carl Merz, headed by him, in the Little Theatre in the concert hall to play cabaret. The result was what is now known as " nameless ensemble" cabaret group to which later Gerhard Bronner, Peter Wehle, Georg Kreisler, Louise Martini and many others, frequently changing members met. He played in the programs " flashing lights " and " Cabaret vor'm head," and the satire on Schnitzler's " La Ronde", " round 51 " with. Kehl man left Vienna in 1953 and went to the NDR as a television director.
Even as a theater director, he made his name. Several times Kehl man worked as a director at the Burgtheater; In 1975, he was next to Thomas Bernhard one of the candidates for the succession of Gerhard Klingenberg as director of the Burgtheater. Most recently, he directed 1985 Carl Zuckmayers The Captain of Köpenick with Heinz Reincke in the title role.

From 1987 until his retirement in 1990, he was head of the television department of the game ORF.
Kehl man was buried on the cemetery wall in Vienna.
