Michael Kiwanuka

Michael Kiwanuka (* 1987 in London ) is a British retro - soul singer.

Career

Kiwanukas parents are from Uganda, he grew up in North London in Muswell Hill. At age 16 he began playing the guitar and composing songs and played in rock bands. Later he discovered the soul music of the 60s for itself. He studied jazz music and earned money as a studio musician before he started his solo career. Paul Butler of the band The Bees became aware of him and produced him his first EP and Communion Records signed him. His song Tell Me a Tale managed mid-2011 in the BBC's playlist. In the same year he was engaged Adele for her opening act for the European tour. Early 2012, Kiwanuka was elected at the BBC forecast for the Sound of 2012 at # 1. Then the song Home Again was released as a single and reached the UK charts. The eponymous debut album was released in March in Europe and could be placed successfully in many countries. Among other things, it reached the Top 10 in England, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden and Norway.
