Michael L. Klein

Michael Lawrence Klein ( born March 13, 1940 in London ) is a British chemist who deals with molecular simulation.

Klein studied chemistry at the University of Bristol with a Bachelor 's degree in 1961 and his doctorate in 1964. Between 1968 and 1987, he conducted research for the National Research Council of Canada and was then a professor at the University of Pennsylvania and director of the Center for Molecular Modeling.

It deals with computational chemistry and computer physics, specifically in statistical mechanics, intermolecular interactions and modeling of liquid phases ( electrically conducting liquids, monolayers, and others), disordered molecular systems, molecular solids and biophysical systems ( such as models of membranes, micelles, membrane proteins). His research lie in a wide range of topics of solid state physics, materials science, chemistry and biochemistry to molecular biophysics.

In 1999, the small Aneesur -Rahman Prize and the 2008 Peter Debye Award. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society (2003), the National Academy of Sciences ( 2009) and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences ( 2003).
