Michael Leib

Michael abdomen ( born January 8, 1760 Philadelphia, † December 8, 1822 ibid ) was an American politician ( Democratic- Republican). He represented the State of Pennsylvania in both houses of the U.S. Congress.

After schooling studied body medicine and worked as a doctor in Philadelphia. During the Revolutionary War he served as surgeon in the militia of Philadelphia; later, he then worked in several hospitals in his hometown.

In 1793 he was a member of a Committee of Correspondence, a corporation, which served to coordinate the policies of the Thirteen Colonies. From 1795 to 1798 he was a deputy in the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. After his successful election in 1798 and several confirmations represented his state body of 4 March 1799 to 14 February 1806 U.S. House of Representatives, when he resigned his mandate. Another term in Parliament from Pennsylvania joined from 1806 until 1808.

Finally, Michael body was in 1808 elected to the U.S. Senate, where he took the place of the retiring Samuel Maclay. His term began on January 9, 1809 and ended with his resignation on 14 February 1814. He took over the job of postmaster of Philadelphia, which he remained until 1815. From 1817 to 1818 he was the third time in the House of Representatives of his State; 1818-1821 he belonged then to the Senate of Pennsylvania.

In November 1822 the body took over the office of notary public in the U.S. District Court in Philadelphia, but already one month later he died.
