Michael Mayr

Michael Mayr ( born April 10, 1864 in Bad Hall in Upper Austria, † May 21 1922 in Waldneukirchen in Upper Austria ) was an Austrian historian and politician of the Christian Social Party. From July 7, 1920 at Mayr was state chancellor, with in- force of the Federal Constitutional Law on November 10, 1920 the first Federal Chancellor of Austria and served to June 1, 1921.

Life

Mayr studied history and geography at the University of Vienna and in 1890 received his doctorate. In the years 1897 to 1920 Mayr was head of the Tyrolean State Archives. In 1900 he became Professor of Modern History at the University of Innsbruck.

Mayr's political career began in the days of the monarchy; 1907-1911 he was a deputy to the Imperial Council, 1908-1914 Member of the Tyrolean Landtag.
