Michael Mronz

Michael Mronz (* March 1, 1967 in Cologne) is a German sports manager.

Life

Michael Mronz grew up on the gallery Ute Mronz and architect John Mronz in Cologne- Junkersdorf as the youngest son. Early on, he was enthusiastic about the sport. Also in the family, there are connections to the sport by his brother, the former professional tennis player Alexander Mronz. Already during his business studies in Göttingen Michael Mronz began to organize tennis tournaments. In the winter semester 1999 he finished his business degree at the University of Cologne as a Diplom-Kaufmann. Mronz since 2004 has been the significant other of the former FDP chairman, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs and former Vice-Chancellor in the Cabinet Merkel II, Guido Westerwelle. On September 17, 2010 Michael Mronz and Guido Westerwelle in Bonn founded a civil partnership. In the year 2005, the Bild newspaper Mronz ranked number 49 of its Beau- hit list.

Career

1989 organized Mronz his first tennis tournament, the Pohland Cup in Cologne, and later the Cologne Open. Since 1992 he has been owner and manager of MMP event and marketing GmbH, which mainly sports events such as marathons, riding, tennis, beach volleyball and hockey tournaments organized (→ Event Marketing ) and companies as well as associations in the fields of sports sponsorship and sports marketing support. The most famous events are Stefan Raab's Wok - WM, the Federal Vision Song Contest and the TV total diving. Although he does not ride itself, Mronz is October 1, 1997 Director of the Aachen horse show GmbH (ART), which is responsible for the marketing of the CHIO in Aachen, the largest equestrian event in the world and the self-proclaimed World Equestrian Festival. Through this position Mronz was also head of the organizing committee of the 2006 World Equestrian Games, after taking place in the same year the World Cup is the second largest sporting event of the year in Germany. For the first time since the foundation of the world championships of driving and riding sport 1990, the event ended with a positive financial balance. At the World Athletics Championships 2009, he was chief marketing officer.

Mronz 2002 was a member of the Board of Hanne - Nüsslein Foundation of KTHC Stadium Rot-Weiss. The Foundation has set itself the goal of promoting young tennis talents. By December 2003 he was a partner and managing director of the American Sports GmbH, where the first ladies and the first men's team of the National League basketball team Rhein Energie Cologne are outsourced. He resigned because of different views on the future direction of the organization structure. Since January 2007, is Michael Mronz board member of the German America's Cup team United Internet Team Germany, where he was responsible for the press area.
