Michael Obst (composer)

Michael Obst ( born November 30, 1955 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German composer and pianist.

Life

He studied from 1973 to 1978 first music school in Mainz and 1977-1982 piano with Alfons and Aloys Kontarsky Kontarsky in Cologne. Here he laid his 1982 concert exam as a pianist from. From 1981 to 1986 he was the pianist of the Ensemble Modern, 1986-1989, he worked as an interpreter with Karlheinz Stockhausen.

At the same time he studied 1979-1986 composition with Hans Ulrich Humpert in the Electronic Music Studio of the Cologne University of Music. Invitations followed in the studios of Ghent ( IPEM ), Stockholm (EMS ), Bourges ( GmeB ), Paris ( IRCAM ), Freiburg ( SWF Strobel Foundation ) as well as in the Electronic Music Studio of the WDR in Cologne. Since 1997 he has been professor of composition at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar, since 2010 also at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.
