Michael Petkovic

Michael Petkovic (* July 16, 1976 in Fremantle, Australia; Croatian spelling: Michael Petković ) is an Australian football goalkeeper, who also owns next to the Australian citizenship of Croatia. Most recently, he played for Melbourne Victory in the A-League, the top division in the Australian Football.

He is the brother of up to 2009 playing at Perth Glory goalkeeper Jason Petkovic.

Career

Club career

Petkovic began his active career as a soccer goalkeeper at Spearwood of Dalmatia, an amateur club from Spearwood, a southern suburb of Perth. His professional career began in 1994 at the Perth Kangaroos, who had their game operation this year overseas in Singapore FAS Premier League. A year later he returned to his youth club and graduated from there again some games. From 1995 to 1999 Petkovic was in the squad of South Melbourne FC. For the club from the Australian National Soccer League, he completed until its disposal 105 league games. In 1999 he transferred to France as a substitute goalkeeper for Racing Strasbourg, but came to no league use. Only a year later he was again taken up by his former club South Melbourne FC in the team after he still came shortly before some inserts for Cockburn City in the Football West State League. From the season 2000 /01 to 2001/ 02, he completed 56 League Appearances for the club from Melbourne. In the summer before the season 2002/ 03 Petkovic signed a contract with the Turkish club Trabzonspor United, where he was until 2005 in a total of 85 championship matches between the posts.
