Michael Radulescu

Michael Radulescu ( born 1943 in Bucharest ) is a German - Austrian composer, organist and professor German - Romanian origin.

Life

Radulescu was born the son of a Romanian father and a German mother. He studied with Anton Heiller and Hans Swarovsky at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Since 1959, he has performed as an organist in Europe, North America, Australia and Japan. From 1968 to 2008 he taught as a professor at the Vienna Academy of Music.

As a composer he was influenced, among others, Paul Hindemith, Anton Webern, Arnold Schoenberg, Ligeti and Olivier Messiaen. He has worked as editor of the old organ music and was a jury member at international competitions. As an organist, he played among other things, the complete organ works of Johann Sebastian Bach.

In 2005 he received the Golden Medal of the city of Vienna. In October 2007 he received the National Award for the music of the Austrian Ministry of Education and the Arts for his musical life's work.
