Michael Reusch

Michael Reusch ( born February 3, 1914 in Rothrist, Canton of Aargau, † April 6, 1989 in Rothrist ) was a Swiss gymnast and Olympic champion.

The father came from Neuhausen at the Erin's ( now part of Metzingen ), and had married a woman from Rothrist in Switzerland in 1912.

At the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin Michael Reusch participated in all eight competitions in gymnastics. He won the silver medal on bars behind the German Konrad Frey and took the Swiss team further in the all around.

Twelve years later at the Summer Olympic Games in London in 1948, he won at the age of 34 years, finally the gold medal on the parallel bars. More silver medals gabs on the rings behind the Swiss teammate Karl Frei and again in team all-around.

Reusch was the most successful participants in the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships 1938 in Prague and was a three time world champion on the horizontal bar, parallel bars and pommel horse. He also won the silver medal on the rings and in the team competition.
