Michael Ryan (ice hockey)
Michael Ryan ( born May 16, 1980 in Boston, Massachusetts) is an American professional ice hockey player on the position of the center, which is under contract with the KHL Medveščak Zagreb in the Kontinental Hockey League since June 2013.
Career
NHL Entry Draft 1999, he was selected by the Dallas Stars in the second round by 32nd. In March 2003, the rights to Ryan and a draft pick were transferred to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Stu Barnes. After Ryan had spent four years at Northeastern University, he was in 2003/ 04 made his professional debut at the Sabres farm team, the Rochester Americans in the American Hockey League. In November 2006 he was appointed to the NHL squad of Sabres and entered on November 22, the first time the ice in the NHL against the Toronto Maple Leafs. On 2 March 2007 Ryan scored then his first two NHL goals against the Montreal Canadiens and was elected logically to the First Star of the game.
In July 2007, his contract was extended for one year in which he earned 475,000 U.S. dollars. A year later he accepted a contract offer from the Sabres, that was true for both the NHL and the AHL, not to and instead signed a contract with HC Dinamo Minsk of the newly formed Kontinental Hockey League. A little later, however, the Carolina Hurricanes are submitted to it a two-way contract for the NHL and AHL, Ryan also signed, as there was no transfer agreement between the NHL and KHL.
In November 2010 he was taken by the Philadelphia Flyers under contract that sent him to the farm team to the Adirondack Phantoms. After these non-extended his contract expiring in the summer of 2011, Ryan was hired in August 2011 as a free agent by the Buffalo Sabres. Then he played for the Rochester Americans in the AHL before was in May 2012 committed by Ässät Pori of the SM - liiga. With the Ässät he won the Finnish championship title at the end of the 2012/13 season. After this success he was signed in June 2013 by the KHL Medveščak Zagreb from the Kontinental Hockey League.
