Michael Schimpelsberger ( born February 12, 1991, Linz) is an Austrian football player. Since 2011 he is at SK Rapid Wien under contract. He plays mainly on the position of left-back but is in some cases also as a central defender or defensive midfielder for use and is therefore regarded as Defensive Allrounder

Career

After Schimpelsberger at the age of seven years took his first footballing steps in the Upper Austrian lower house club Union Neuhofen / Krems, talent seekers were soon aware of the little "Mike". At the age of eleven he joined in 2002 in the youth department of the capital clubs LASK Linz. At the same time he played for the school team, the sports high school Klein Munich with whom he won the 2004 German Championship of Football Alumni League. In the summer of 2005 Schimpelsberger joined the football academy of FK Austria Vienna but where he remained only until the winter of 2006, because a renewed change in the football academy of FC Red Bull Salzburg followed.

Having now developed into a regular player of the Austrian U-17 National Team, international talent investigators were aware of Schimpelsberger. In January 2008, he received an offer from FC Twente Enschede, after which he moved to the Dutch. He was initially in the U-19 team to use, but was transferred to the second team of the Dutch giants in the summer of 2008.

After he took part in the summer of 2010 with the Austrian national team to the finals of the U-19 European Championship, where he came as team captain in two games for use, was coach Michel Preud'homme of Schimpelsberger also in the squad for the first team of FC Twente Enschede recorded. 30 October 2010 Schimpelsberger came in a 1-0 away win at PSV Eindhoven to his debut as a professional football player when he came on in 63 minutes instead of Thilo Leugers.
