Michael Schrader

Michael Schrader ( born July 1, 1987 in Duisburg ) is a German decathlete.

The German youth champion in 2005 and junior champion of 2007 surpassed for the first time on May 18, 2008 in Filderstadt with 8194 points, the 8000 -point mark.

A further increase took place on 22 June in Ratingen, where Schrader with 8248 points surpassed the performance of the season by Pascal Behr break six points and thus qualified as the third German decathlete for the Olympic Games in Beijing, where he finished tenth.

His biggest international success he achieved on 30 and 31 May, 2009 Götzis, when he won the high class occupied Mösle Mehrkampf meeting with a new personal best of 8522 points. This puts it in ninth place of eternal German leaderboard in the decathlon. Because of a fatigue crack Schrader had to renounce participation in the World Athletics Championships in Berlin. In 2010 he became German champion.

From 2009 to early 2013, he struggled with injury problems on the right foot. He could finish no more decathlon two and a half years.

In multi- fight meeting in Ulm, he reached in May 2013 in adverse weather conditions with 8427 points until then his second best result. He also presented on three personal bests and individual qualified for the World Championships in Moscow. At the World Cup Schrader won with a new personal best of 8670 points and own three personal best values ​​in the individual disciplines the silver medal.

Schrader is 1,83 m tall and weighs 80 kg. His club was until 1999 the Homberger TV, from 2000, the SC Bayer 05 Uerdingen and since 2010 the TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen. He is trained by Torsten Voss. He belongs to the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr. Since the end of 2012, he lives in Halle, where he trained with Rico Freimuth and Norman Müller Wolfgang Kühne.
