Michael Staksrud

Michael Staksrud ( born June 2, 1908 in Gran, † November 10, 1940 ) was a Norwegian speed skater.

Staksrud belonged to the so-called " Hadeland Trio ", which was next to him from the skaters and Hans Ivar Ballangrud Engnestangen and speed skating domninierte in the 1930s.

Staksrud in 1930, 1935 and 1937 respectively in Oslo all-around world champion. 1932 and 1933 he won the silver medal behind Ivar Ballangrud, or Hans Engnestangen. He also triumphed at the European Championships 1934 in Hamar and 1937 in Davos.

Although he participated in three Olympic Games, Staksrud won no Olympic medal.

Staksrud led the Peerage 1937-1939 on for 728 days. Its maximum value in the Peerage was 189.750 points.

He set two world records. On February 25, 1933, he surpassed Hamar in direct competition with the former world record holder Engnestangen the existing world record for the distance over 3000 meters of 4:59.1 around a tenth of a second. Another world record he achieved on 31 January 1937 1500 meters in Davos, where he ran 2:14.9. In the same year he was honored with the Morgenbladet gold medal.

Staksrud drowned 32 years old.
