Michael Tebbutt

Michael Tebbutt ( born December 22, 1970 in Sydney, Australia ) is an Australian former tennis player.

Life

Tebbut occurred in 1988 at the junior tournament at the Australian Open, but different both in single and in double out in the first round. He studied finance at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, reached the third round of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Championships in 1992 and was elected in the same year in the Best All-American selection. The following year, he became a professional tennis player and had the same at the beginning of his first decent result than he could defeat as a qualifier at the ATP tournament in Sydney in the first round Sergi Bruguera. In July 1993 he reached the Challenger tournament in Monte Bello, among others, by defeating Greg Rusedski the semifinals. Towards the end of the year he stood at the side of Sandon Stolle in Launceston for the first time in the doubles final of a Challenger tournament. In 1994 he won after his final victory over Tim Henman in Manila his first and only Challenger single title, as well as in Bochum his first Challenger doubles title. Throughout his career, he was able to win four doubles titles on the ATP Challenger Tour.

1996 was its most successful year on the ATP World Tour. He stood with changing partners in the finals of the tournaments from Newport and Shanghai as well as the Masters of Indian Wells, but was able to win any of the tournaments for themselves. In addition, he scored the knockout round participation at the Masters tournament in Key Biscayne, the single best result of his career. He suggested this Patrick McEnroe, Paul Haarhuis and Hendrik Dreekmann and finally defeated Jim Courier in just three sentences. In 1997 he won in Indianapolis his first ATP doubles title, his second and last title came in Scottsdale in 1998. The highest quotation in the tennis world ranking he reached in 1995 with position 87 in the singles and in 1996 with position 28 in doubles.

His best individual result at a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the second round of the U.S. Open 1995. According victories over other Järryd, David Wheaton and Richard Krajicek he finally defeated Michael Chang. In the doubles competition in 1996 he reached the quarter-finals of Wimbledon, he also stood in 1995 in the second round of the U.S. Open and twice in the second round of the Australian Open. There he stood in 1996 also in the quarterfinals of the mixed competition.
