Michael Theobald

Michael Theobald ( born March 7, 1948 in Cologne ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian.

Life

Theobald studied Roman Catholic theology at the University of Bonn and at the University of Münster. After receiving his doctorate in 1979 in Bonn and the Habilitation in 1985 in Regensburg Theobald was 1985-1989 Professor of Biblical Theology at the Free University of Berlin. Since 1989, Theobald is Professor of New Testament at the University of Tübingen. His work focuses heard the Gospel of John and the New Testament epistles ( Romans, Ephesians, Hebrews, the Pastoral Epistles ). Since 2009, Theobald Chairman of the Catholic Biblical plant Stuttgart eV. Furthermore, Theobald member of the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina Hall, College Theology of the DFG, the Society of Biblical Literature ( SBL), Societas Novi Testamenti ( SNTS ) and Working Group of the German New Testament scholar ( AGNT )

Together with his brother Christoph Theobald him 2014, the Theological price of the Salzburg University Weeks was awarded.
