Michael Timm

Michael Timm ( born November 13, 1962 in Hagenow ) is a German boxing trainer and former amateur boxer.

Amateur career

As an amateur boxer Timm 1979 East German youth champion and 1980 Junior Champion. In the senior he won in 1981 and 1982 the championship title in the welterweight and light middleweight in 1983. His coach was Fritz Sdunek. In the years 1984 and 1985, Michael Timm won the Chemistry Cup in Halle. In addition, he won the World Cup in 1985 in Seoul and was a third place in Budapest Europe champion in the light middleweight division. A little later he ended his boxing career.

Coaching career

1986 Timm was coach at Schwerin SC. From 1987 until its dissolution in 1990, he coached the junior national team in addition to the GDR. Under his leadership were Enrico Berger in 1989 and Torsten Bengston 1990 Junior World Champion, and in January Schwank 1990 European Junior Champion. From 1991, he coached the national selection of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

From 1997 to 2012, Michael Timm Staff Trainer at Hamburger professional boxing stable Universum Box-Promotion; since 2010 as a successor to Fritz Sduneks in the function of the head coach. Michael Timm is married, has two daughters (* 1983/1986 ) and lives in Schwerin. In 1984 he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze and 1986 silver.
