Michael Tonge

Michael William Eric Tonge ( born April 7, 1983 in Manchester ) is an English footballer who plays in midfield and is since 2013 in Leeds United.

Career

Sheffield United

Tonge played in the youth in various youth teams from Manchester United until he was taken by Steve Bruce to Sheffield United. In April 2001, Tonge was the first time in the first team squad. In the 1-1 draw against Bolton Wanderers Tonge celebrated its for new face. His first competitive goal he scored in the following season, as he managed a 1-0 winner against Crewe Alexandra. Because of its good services Tonge aroused the interest of many top clubs among others, Liverpool, especially after Tonge in the semifinals of the League Cup scoring both goals in a 2-1 victory. Finally, he was first nominated for the England youth team. In eight years at Sheffield Tonge played more than 300 games duty.

Stoke City

On 1 September 2008, signed a contract with Tonge first division club Stoke City. Against Everton he celebrated his premiere on September 14. However, it did not succeed permanently to compete in the team, which is why he came up with only ten league bets. On 19 November 2009 he was loaned to Preston North End, where he first came against Newcastle United on 23 November used. In the second half Tonge was awarded to Derby County, where he beat FC Watford scored his first goal on March 6, 2010. After his return to Stoke City Tonge came early in the season two appearances. Nevertheless, he was a short time later awarded to Preston, where he could score his first goal against Cardiff City on December 4, 2010.

In the 2012/13 season, his former coach Neil Warnock from common Sheffield times became aware of him. He could arrange a lending transaction with Stoke, so Tongue now can contribute with Leeds United FC on goal for the season, the rise in the major league. In winter 2013, the lending was extended to a permanent contract.
