Michael VI Bringas

Michael VI. Stratiotikos (Greek Μιχαὴλ ΣΤ ' ὁ Στρατιωτικός ), also known as " Michael the old man ", was Byzantine emperor from 1056 to 1057. He was already an old man when the Empress Theodora III. appointed him shortly before her own death as his successor.

Given the rivalry between civil servants and military nobility that characterized the 11th century in the Byzantine history, he stood to one side of the page of the official nobility.
