Michael Woolston Ash

Michael Woolston Ash ( born March 5, 1789 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, † December 14, 1858 ) was an American politician. Between 1835 and 1837 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

After studying law and was admitted to his 1811 attorney Michael Ash started working in Philadelphia in this profession. During the British - American War he was an officer of a volunteer unit from Pennsylvania. After the war he practiced along with the future U.S. president James Buchanan as a lawyer. Later he hit as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career.

In the congressional elections of 1834 Ash was in the third electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of John Goddard Watmough on March 4, 1831. Since he resigned in 1836 to further candidacy, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1837. These were determined by the discussions about the policies of President Andrew Jackson.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, Michael Ash operated again as a lawyer. He died on 14 December 1858 in his hometown of Philadelphia, where he was also buried.
