Work

Particularly well known for its Lewin is playing in Indianapolis crime novels about the private detective Albert Samson which are clearly inspired by the hard school of American crime fiction. Like his role models in his shows Lewin microcosms as interweaving of failed interpersonal and family relationships can lead to disaster. However, while act and setting reflect the typical detective novel, adds the laconic, sometimes black - humorous narrative style to the genre a new facet added, which gives particularly the figure of slightly bumbling Albert Samson a depth of character.

Lewin since his debut Ask the right question ( 1971) published 18 novels, as well as a series of short stories, radio plays and theater pieces. He was nominated three times for the prestigious Edgar Award, including 1972 Ask the right question. 1992 Raymond Chandler Society ( Germany ) eV honored him with the " Marlowe " in the category "Best crime novel - International " for his novel Called by a Panther. The original English edition, not the German translation was evaluated.
