Michael Zorc ( born August 25, 1962 in Dortmund) is a former football player (midfielder ) of Borussia Dortmund and is currently dortiger sports director.

Playing career

Michael Zorc, son of the amateur national player Dieter Zorc, who played for VfL Bochum in the Bundesliga 1971/72, still came as a teenager in 1978 by the local Dortmund club TuS Eving - Lindenhorst for Borussia. Because of his long hair once he received from his teammate Rolf Rüssmann nicknamed " Susie", which is still used today by his fans. Michael Zorc debuted at Borussia Dortmund in the 1981/82 season under coach Branko Zebec. His 463 league games, he completed all for BVB and is therefore a Bundesliga record players of the club. He scoring 131 goals. This puts it - by Bernd Nickel (141 goals) - on the ranking of the midfielder with the most goals in the Bundesliga goals in second place. Only the striker Manfred Burgsmüller has scored more goals for BVB in the Bundesliga. Zorc was furthermore considered one of the safest Penalty-takers of the Bundesliga (49 out of 57 turns ). Zorc was for many years captain of Borussia Dortmund and the fans very popular. He wore the shirt number eight.

National

Zorc won in 1981 with the junior national team of the DFB at the Junior World Cup title. In the course of the tournament he was six times used. A goal he did not achieve. He was as German national team and played in the years 1992 and 1993 a total of seven matches.
