Michal Peprník

Michal Peprník ( born January 9, 1960 in Kroměříž ) is a Czech American studies and professor of American literature at the Palacky University in Olomouc.

Life

He is a son of Jaroslav Peprník. In the years 1992-1993 he taught Czech literature at the Institute of Slavic languages ​​at the University of Glasgow. He habilitated in 2003.

Peprník directs the Department of Literature at the Institute of English and American Studies and is secretary of the Czech and Slovak Association for American Studies (The Czech and Slovak Association for American Studies ). He is also the main coordinator of the International Olomouc American Studies Colloquium.

In his research he focuses on the literature and culture of the 19th century, to the American postmodernism, to fantastic literature and translated into English Czech literature. In his critical work he is mainly with the novels by American writer James F. Cooper.
