Michalis Konstantinou

Michalis Konstantinou (Greek Μιχάλης Κωνσταντίνου, born February 19, 1978 in Paralimni ) is a Cypriot football player. He is the most expensive player of his country and is also currently the top scorer in Cyprus. Currently, he plays for AEL Limassol.

Career

Konstantinou began his career in his home at Enosis Neon Paralimni. In the 1996/97 season he scored 17 goals in 25 games and he was top scorer. He then moved to Greece for Iraklis. There he met in 119 games 60 times and moved with the club into the UEFA Cup.

After four years Konstantinou left the club and for about 15 million euros, he moved to Panathinaikos Athens. This is the highest amount ever paid for a Cypriot football player. With his new club he played in the UEFA Champions League, but failed at FC Barcelona. After the contract expires at Panathinaikos in 2005 he moved to Olympiakos Piraeus. There he received a three -year contract. With Piraeus he succeeded in 2006, winning the championship and the Cup. 2008, the expiring contract was not renewed, so Konstantinou changed again in the summer to Iraklis. There he was, however, in contrast to his first commitment is not happy and he left the club during the winter break to Cyprus to Omonia Nicosia.
