Michel Audiard

Michel Audiard ( born May 15, 1920 in Paris, † 27 July 1985 in Dourdan ) was a French screenwriter and film director.

Life

Audiard worked after the Second World War as a writer of movie magazines. Director André Hunebelle asked him in 1949 if he could write an adventure film for him. Audiard said yes, wrote the screenplay for Mission in Tangier and established himself as a screenwriter. Throughout his career, Audiard has been involved in 131 screenplays. He adapted materials, wrote original screenplays and was considered a leading specialist in concise dialogues. In the 1970s and 1980s, he was involved as a writer or dialogue writer regularly to the films of the French superstar Jean -Paul Belmondo, for whom he wrote among other things the script template to hit film The Professional ( 1981). In the late 1960s and early 1970s Audiard also joined as a director in appearance, was with this work but dissatisfied.

His son Jacques Audiard is also active as a screenwriter and director.
